No one can stop talking about ChatGPT to the point that it’s getting a little bit annoying due to the hype …
If I had to hear one more person say; “have you heard of ChatGPT” or, “Use ChatGPT.” I think I might lose it.
However, one cannot underestimate how important this technology is, and how it is going to influence and change society. Like most things there is good and bad to all types of change and technological advancement. AI is used in most industries, and a lot of the time consumers don’t even realise that AI is being used. For example, in the adult industry AI is often used for moderation to flag harmful/illegal videos, it can also be used to tailor videos for specific users interests.
Over the last year I’ve been approached by multiple AI companies, who want to integrate their AI into our chat services. What this would mean is that users wouldn’t be talking to the performer but to the AI model which will adjust to seem like it really is the performer. I quickly declined all of these offers, for the specific reason that I do not think that this is ‘ethical’ for the users, because they are paying to speak with the performer, so is it morally right/fair for them to actually be paying to talk to an AI model? I could understand if a user wanted to pay (or for free) use some form of an AI sex chatbot, but, if they think that they are talking to an actual performer, then is this morally right?
When I declined these offers, I got a lot of pushback from some tech people, who would laugh at me for not being interested. They also said that no user would even be able to tell that they were talking to AI, but I think this argument defeats the point and question at hand. Firstly, I think they underestimate how super fans really can tell all, and catch out assistants all of the time. Secondly, I’m all for AI and societal advancement, but amidst all of this, we also need to take a step back and evaluate what is ‘ethical’ and moral. There needs to be more of a philosophical discussion around AI, especially when it comes to porn.
Would you be upset if you thought you were talking to a performer and it was AI? Do you think that it is morally questionable for sites/performers to use AI with their customers? Comment below.
Chatting with a chatbot instead of a performer would be fraud if the customer is not informed that they may be communicating with a chatbot. That seems like a liability sites may not want to take on.
