How much do you actually pay for on a fan site?
Understanding different subscription prices & content
Everyone knows what fan sites are, however, not everyone understands the business model or how performers set their subscription prices. This can be particularly challenging for users to understand, because the majority of fan sites do not give you the opportunity to preview or trial the content, so you don’t really always know what you’re going to get.
Here are some important things to understand about subscriptions on fan sites, and how different mainstream creators set rates:
Bear in mind that most creators set subscription prices just as an entrance fee. Some users assume that if they pay a subscription fee that they then don’t have to pay anymore. That’s not often true. It is just the entrance fee. Many creators will include some free content in the subscription, but they will also charge for additional images, videos, customs, and sexting.
If they have a high subscription (e.g. 20 dollars to 50 dollars) then they usually have the majority of feed content for free, however, they will still charge for sexting, customs and more in the dm’s.
If they have a low subscription (free or under 10 dollars) then you’ll have to pay for more extra content on top of the subscription fee. This means that a lot of the content in their feed will be behind a paywall, with only a couple free pieces of images/videos a month. You will then also have to buy extras in the DMs.
Just because you pay a subscription fee does not mean that you can just DM the performer and expect them to reply. Some performers (not all) will only reply to you if you tip first or buy a sexting session.
There is no solid formula to how the subscription prices work, every creator is different. But just bear the above in mind if you are going to be using a fan site, as many users who don’t understand this system can grow frustrated. Overall, maybe start subscribing to free pages if you are new to fan sites to test out if it’s something you enjoy, or try creators with a free trial to see if you would like to invest in a monthly subscription.
